Flying cars are real or just a fantasy?

We all know that science has no end, and technological development also has no end. We have talked a lot about cars and the extent of their development, but we have not mentioned a car that has the ability to fly before. Yes, in this article we explain important details about everything related to flying cars.

Flying cars are real or just a fantasy?

Flying cars are real or just a fantasy?

What is a flying car?

It is a very unique type, and it is one of the vehicles that provide you with air and land transportation at the same time, it was manufactured in an innovative way to quickly transform from a normal vehicle or car to a flying car.

Since the beginning of the twentieth century, many vehicles and prototypes have been built using a variety of different aeronautical technologies, an example of which is distributed propulsion. The first fully-produced flying car is the PAL-V, which is expected to be fully completed in late 2021.

Flying cars are one of the most popular topics in the world and in science fiction films, where most science fiction films have flying cars or the like.

The stages of development of flying cars

Here are the most important old developments in the field of flying cars:

1940: It was the beginning of talking about flying cars, as Henry Ford predicted the emergence of the so-called flying car when he said: “We will see a mixture of the plane and the car. You may smile, but it will come.” That is, we will witness a car that owns Airworthiness, you may be wondering now, but it will happen.

1942: The Soviet armed forces built the Zalaqiya tank, and it was an A-40 type, but one of them could not fly.

1949: Aerocar was designed by Moulton Taylor and he made a 100% successful flight, a one of a kind flight.

1956: A foreign song called "You Can't Catch Me" was released by Chuck Berry, and the last versions underwent a lot of back-to-back auditions. This year, the Civil Aviation Authority approved the start of design for this mass production, and despite the great publicity and the improved version of the design, Taylor was unable to bring that car and the wonderful design into production.

1957: A popular magazine called Hiller Helicopters reported that another company, Hiller Helicopters, was seriously working on developing an aircraft with twin ducted propellers, which was expected to fly much easier than conventional helicopters, and cost much less. And his signature that this type of aircraft will become the basis later.

The year 1957 was: full of breakthroughs in the field, as this year Curtis Wright, Chrysler and Biesky were awarded a comprehensive contract to build prototypes in this regard. Despite their many prototypes, the "VZ-8" remained the most successful of the three. Where it had the ability to fly at a height of more than thousands of feet, which indicates its stability during flight.

The army decided at that time that the concept and layout of the aircraft were not suitable for the modern battlefield or battlefield, and thus their focus was on conventional aircraft.

1988 / 1982: Engineer Boeing founded Flight Innovations Inc. And then he started directly developing Sky Commuter.

Sky Commuter is a small size aircraft, made of semi-composite materials.

2006: Urban Aeronautics' turboprop, the X-Hawk, was first announced, scheduled to take off on its maiden flight in 2009.

2008: The first model was completed and sold for £86,000, according to eBay.

Here are the most important recent developments in the field of flying cars:

Starting in 2017, many companies have emerged that are developing flying cars, with vertical take-off and landing, to be produced by 2020, examples of recent developments include the following:

2012: The first Terrafugia Transition model appeared at a famous show called the New York International Auto Show.

2013: Terrafugia announces the TF-X, a familiarity vehicle that will be the first fully autonomous flying car. It has a range of up to 500 miles per trip and its battery is rechargeable by motor.

2016: AeroMobil has tested an important model that has been awarded the Superior Aviation Certificate from Slovakia. But the company did not specify when the product will be available or even its cost.

2017: Kitty Hawk Corporation and Aero work on developing modern flying cars. The kitty Hawk company also revealed its developed vehicle that works only on water.

2018: Some companies have revealed a concept that resembles a sports car that has the ability to fly and operates in a vertical landing position.

August 2019: The Volocopter 2x was first tested and successfully tested at Helsinki Airport, where it was integrated with the "Altitude Angel - AirMap - Unifly" unmanned air traffic management services, an essential component of commercial flights. The first Airbus eVTOL prototype made its first realistic flight on May 3, 2019.

EHang 216 carried passengers during a demonstration flight at an exhibition in China and Northeast Asia, and it was in late 2019.

How safe are flying cars?

Flying cars, by their nature, are not subject to many common safety measures, and they are a new technology, meaning that the pilots of these cars do not have enough experience. I think that flying cars are very dangerous, because their landing is frequent, unlike planes, and this leads to an increase in the possibility of accidents and loss of life.

The biggest problem, is the great danger that lies in collisions in the air during a crowded flight. One of the most serious problems is also landing in places that are not equipped for it, and this may lead to the possibility of collision. Modern systems equipped for such flying cars must now be developed, in anticipation of an increase in their numbers in the future.

For now

Now "at the moment" most of the development in the field of flying cars is over, a famous company called Europe PAL-V will search for investors to work on developing their commercial product to be put on the market, and their flying car has won the admiration of many investors, airlines and military institutions , for use in a variety of areas, including mobility, monitoring and others.

Flying cars were just a dream, or science fiction in a movie. Now it has become a reality and the dream has turned into reality. You may leave your home one day to fly over the urban congestion areas and get rid of traffic jams and others, now everything is possible.
